FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please email
james@wheeladventures.com.au if you have
a question that hasn't been answered here
Can I use my
own Wheelchair?
Yes, you can use your own Wheelchair, whether it be a manual or an
electric chair, subject to size (ie. whether your Wheelchair can
fit into the Sidecar and be safely secured) and weight (ie. the
combined weight of you and your Wheelchair) restrictions.
What if I use another mobility device (eg.
walker, walking frame or scooter) rather than a Wheelchair?
The Sidecar has been specially designed to take both manual and
electric Wheelchairs. We
supply a Wheelchair for anyone who does not have one, or who would prefer
not to use their own Wheelchair.
Why are there size and weight restrictions?
To ensure your ride is safe and comfortable, we need to ensure that
the Sidecar can accommodate the combined weight of you, your Wheelchair
and your carer/friend (if they are riding as a pillion passenger).
Can I design my own tour or group event?
That's what WheelAdventures is all about. You tell us where you want
to go or what you would like to do, and we'll customise a tour or group
event specially for you!
Do I have to wear particular clothes
for the tour?
As you can be exposed to the weather, for your comfort and safety we
suggest you (and your carer/friend) wear long pants, long sleeve shirt
and enclosed footwear. We supply you with a helmet, gloves and wet/cold
weather gear as required (ie. if we get stuck in the rain!). We also
suggest that you wear sunglasses on sunny days.
What if my carer or friend wants to come along on
the ride?
A carer or friend can come along as a pillion passenger (on the back of
the motorbike) for FREE!
Maximum weight restrictions apply (see question above).
Why do you recommend that I keep the
helmet visor down when we're riding?
Because if bugs hit your face they can really sting!
What happens if it's raining on the day of my ride?
If it's raining or rain is forecast, we will give you a call at least 2
hours before the agreed pick up time and either decide to do the ride or
reschedule for another day. The choice is yours.
Can I bring food and drink along on the
tour?
Yes, but you can only consume it when we have a pit-stop.
Can I take my camera on the ride?
Absolutely, and we can make photo stops wherever you like.
What if I need
to make an unscheduled stop during the tour for some reason?
No problem. Before we take off, we will agree on hand signals that
you can use to ask us to stop at any time.
How can I pay for my ride?
You can pay by cash or cheque on the
day of your ride, or beforehand by Direct Deposit into our bank account
(please contact us for details).
Is there a surcharge for Public Holidays?
No, prices are the same no matter what day you book.
Do you have appropriate insurances in
place?
WheelAdventures is a fully insured motorcycle tour business and has been
fully
accredited by Queensland Transport. In addition, the Sidecar is
inspected for roadworthiness every six months by Queensland Transport, and
is required to complete other compliance requirements on a regular basis.
